Simpleware launches New Release at WCCM VIII

Simpleware is pleased to announce the release of Version 3.1 of ScanIP, ⁺ScanFE and ⁺ScanCAD, its advanced image processing and mesh generation software package, at the 8th World Conference on Computational Mechanics (WCCM VIII) 30 June - 4 July, 2008 in Venice, Italy.

The New Release offers many new and improved capabilities in image processing and mesh generation. Sophisticated new tools accelerate the process of segmenting and meshing 3D data. With this new software release, Simpleware extends its leadership in providing a complete solution for converting 3D scan data into CAD and CAE models.

New features of ScanIP and ⁺ScanFE Version 3.1 include:

Algorithms and Export Options
New Mesh Refinement	User defined mesh refinement - zones of higher and lower mesh densities can now be easily and interactively selected. Possibility to register (rotate and align) images. Export of surface meshes in a new set of formats including: IGES, SAT, ANSYS, ABAQUS and PointsCloud. Direct export of finite element models from +ScanFE to COMSOL.
User Interface & Usability
	Improved visual feedback between the 2D slice position and the 3D view. Option to crop datasets interactively. Support for meshing up to 250 different masks/sub-domains. Export of 3D view images in various formats (e.g. png, eps, etc.) for good quality print and presentations. New fast preview option for quick rendering and visualization of 3D models. Mask size estimator in ScanIP (e.g. number of voxels). User control over the undo/redo option.
