The +ScanFE meshing module bolts onto ScanIP
and provides a robust approach to the conversion of segmented 3D image data into
multi-part volumetric models. +ScanFE generates volume and/or surface
meshes, contact surfaces and material properties from segmented data. These high quality meshes
can be directly imported into a range of commercial FE and CFD packages.
What is the benefit of direct FE conversion?
Alternative approaches can be time-consuming and inaccurate as they convert into STL and CAD formats
(e.g. IGES), which require remeshing and pre-processing. In some instances problems are simply
intractable due to the complexity in capturing the geometry of the object.
+ScanFE bypasses these intermediary steps and generates FE and CFD meshes directly from the scan data,
which are immediately importable into Abaqus, Ansys, Comsol, Fluent, I-deas, LS-Dyna, and MSC.Patran/Nastran.
